- 1 C orange juice or milk (obviously you lose the orange taste) or both
- 1 frozen banana, sectioned (good use for those “overripers”, I break them in half, bag them and freeze them)
- 1 C frozen blueberries (optional, but yummy and good for you)
Blend until smooth
- 1 or 2 scoops vanilla whey powder (depends on how protein-y you want it) added with blender on low
Blend until well mixed
- Several ice cubes. Number will depend on how frozen you want it, how hot it is, temperature of other ingredients. I like stiff milkshake consistency
Blend until the ice cubes are all broken up – lumps are so icky. Decant and enjoy. If you have to use a spoon, so much the better.
I have this before / during / after a hard workout – kind of like a reward (after) plus energy to work out (before / during).
P.S. – oatmeal, flaxseed and the like – forget it – I’ll eat them some other time – I don’t want them in my ice cream – er, protein shake…
